Returned to Costa Rica, for the time being

We arrived safely in San Jose and we are looking forward to enjoying a couple more months in Monteverde before moving to Vashon Island. Vashon was our top choice for relocation.

We plan on heading back to Seattle on June 5th, seeking housing.

I will be working a week or so in June, and then I start in earnest August 1st as Principal of Chautauqua Elementary on Vashon Island. (A twenty minute ferry ride from West Seattle, and about an hour drive plus ferry from Olympia where Jaal will be).

Our trip was successful as I secured a job and a pre-school for Liana. Housing is the final gauntlet. My mom and Charlene will be moving to Vashon as well.

We are looking forward to being closer to friends and family but will miss our friends, home and lifestyle in Monteverde.

Our flight back was somewhat eventful as Liana had the stomach flu and vomited about twelve times. She is better now, and slept the second flight.

Love to all,

Rebecca

Questions from Liana

"But how did the first person get born." "If they didn't have a mommy how did they get born. Like the first one," asks Liana.

I tried to explain evolution and that there are some things that people don't know. Liana responded, "Maybe the Internet knows."

Family photo

Liana was trying to draw a picture of her family. She drew herself first. Whenever something didn't turn out as she liked, she would turn it into something else. "I'm wearing a hat," for example when she realized her hair looked like a hat. Then she realized she wouldn't have room for the whole family so she just drew Mommy. After drawing me, she realized I looked like a potato so she said, "It's Mr. Potato Head and Mommy Pig next to a table with a family picture on it."

Today Liana wrote her nickname upside down, correctly, from across the table.
